History: Known internally as the “Schachbrett” (or “checkerboard”), Pascha was probably a mid-70s version of a motorsports finishing flag and was given a Bauhaus touch known as Op Art (Optic Art) , an artistic style intended to give the “impression of movement, hidden images, patterns of flashes and vibrations, or of swelling or deformation.” A look at Bridget Riley’s dizzying square movement from 1961.
